This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: The BMW this past week had a great finish with Cantlay and DeChambeau needing 6 playoff holes to decide the winner with Cantlay’s 17ft birdie putt. Leaving all the Bryson talk out, how much did you enjoy the last day of the tournament and Cantlay’s refusal to lose? My favorite was Cantlay’s dart on 17 after Bryson was 9ft away. #GolfChat

Q2: Tour Championship and the Solheim Cup compete for eyes this Sat/Sun between NBC/Golf Channel (13 1/2 hours of PGA coverage, 22 hours of Solheim Cup). Wondering if you’ll watch both, neither, as much as you can or catch up when possible? #GolfChat

Q3: Lots of Twitter golf talk about the set up for players at East Lake, stroke play that uses a handicap format based on Fedex Cup points. This means the bottom 5 of the 30 qualifiers are down 10 before the start. Don’t like it or do you see it the same as a bye or home field/court advantage that we see in other sports? A reward for a good year?  #GolfChat

Q4: US Solheim Cup team has 4 of the top 15 players on this years team, Team Europe answers with veteran captain Catriona Matthew, 4 rookies and 3 players with just 1 Cup of experience. It’s a team game though, why are the Europeans so good at getting their teams (Ryder and Solheim) to gell?#GolfChat

Q5: Give us your picks for the winner of the Fedex Cup (and the $15m) and then the biggest impact player in the Solheim Cup, women that can start a run or stop an opponent’s. Celine Boutier for Europe and the US’s Danielle Kang. #GolfChat

Q6: What’s your week in golf look like and what are you excited about? #GolfChat

Q7: PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan says a new policy is in place that and fans will be ejected if they verbally “disrespect” players and what has been yelled at DeChambeau qualifies. Do you think this solves DeChambeau’s problems of just put laser focus on him this week and into the future? Are the fans that do yell at Bryson going to fear being ejected?

Q3: @ActiveGlutes out of Houston has a question about how you display your golf flags, but whatever it is that you collect, flags, pencils, hats, yardage books, let’s see ’em. #GolfChat

Q4: @1beardedgolfer asks the question that many us of ask ourselves after a bad round, maybe just not out loud. “How many times per year do you quit golf?” Mine last time was this past Saturday after pulling my tee shot into the water on #16, I just wanted to be done. #GolfChat

Q5: @encinomandude wants to know “What’s the coolest thing you saw someone else do during one of your rounds this year?” Saw 1 of my Back 9 Pro buddies pull hook a tee shot at Rose City way up onto the street above the course that I’ve never seen anybody get to. Stuned tee box and I said “I don’t think we’re going to find that one” #GolfChat

Welcome to #GolfChat! Who’s joining us and how was your past week of golf?  #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: It was a good week in golf, Nelly Korda wins Olympic gold, Abraham Ancer picks up his first PGA tour win when the leaders of the WGC-FedEx St. Jude collapsed on the back 9. Erik Van Rooyen won for the 1st time at the Barracuda Championship making him the 6th 1st time winner of the event in a row.  What was your favorite moment in professional golf from the past week? #GolfChat

Q2: Women’s golf showed up strong this past week, with the Olympics, Annika Sorenstam winning the US Senior Women’s Open and Jensen Castle, the 63rd seed, fought through to win the US Women’s Amature crown? With more international personalities, way less drama, and talented fields is women’s golf more entertaining to you right now? #GolfChat

Q3: Bryson DeChambeau on the other hand did not have a good week in golf. From his Covid take to the meltdown on the back 9 Sunday, closing with 41 at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude, falling from a 2 shot lead to barley top 10. Playing while being “bullied” by spectators and on the clock for slow play I wonder if this is just a Bryson problem or does the PGA, the crowds, Brooks Koepka, all have a hand in this? #GolfChat

Q4:  Taking from Q3, are you tiring of PGA golf season and ready to move on to the Ryder Cup? Maybe investing more quality time into your own game and the people you play with? Is twitter golf still a good place to be? #GolfChat

Q5: We’re into August now, so the summer is starting to close out. Have you made your biggest golf trip yet or is it still about to happen? If you have, tell us about it and if not, tell us what you’re expecting #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: Men’s Olympic golf had drama down to the last playoff hole and 3rd place, with 7 players, has never meant so much. Pre-event interest was mixed, did you end up watching? If you did, what did you think and was it live or via replay? #GolfChat

Q2: The women Olympians take stage starting tonight on the same course as the men played, Kasumigaseki Country Club.  Other than distance, what, if any, changes to the set up are you expecting? #GolfChat

Q3: Is Olympic golf different from any other? Huge team aspect as participants rep for their countries, but once on the 1st tee box it’s only about individual play. Do  you think it takes any mental adjustment by the players to adapt between formats or is hit ball, find ball, hit ball again? #GolfChat

Q4: 2 weeks ago we asked what era of golf course design you started on. Follow up: What do you look for in terms of golf course design? Do you favor a course that rewards execution or rather artistry? Think about Hazeltine National vs Chambers Bay #GolfChat

Q5: You have 10 minutes to give your take on any golf topic you want in this freeform space, GO!  #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: Olympic golf takes center stage this week for the men and women. Format is like any other tourney, lowest 4 day total wins? This morning suggestions for other formats ranged Long Drive, wolf, team scramble, club toss were all thrown out. Do we get bored with routine stroke play? What would you like to see given the selection process? #GolfChat @AlCervik

Q2: Both Jeongeun Lee6 and Leona Maguire shot rounds of 61 this past week in the LPGA’s Evian Championship, but neither won with Lee6 losing in a playoff and Maguire with a T6. What do you think are the top 3 things it takes to win any competitive golf event from the tours to #GreaverCupIII? #GolfChat

Q3: For Team USA, Bryson DeChambeau is out of the Olympics after a positive COVID-19 test. 1 of the most unpopular players on the planet, Patrick Reed, is the replacement and I’m wondering if you’ll hesitate to root for him while he reps the red, white, and blue? #GolfChat

Q4: @zrheisler sent in a question for #GolfChat, he wants to know “What club in your bag brings you the most joy when you pure it. For me it’s my 4 iron.?” #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: @fnf2017 asked us “How much are you willing to sacrifice to “grow the game?” Let’s keep the debate to muni golf, the privates and big name coursed can do what they want. Is apparel? Maybe $5 more around so juniors can play free? #GolfChat

Q2: Golf course design has evolved over the years, but a great course is enduring, St. Andrews, the TPC stadium courses, to Bandon and Whistling Straits. What era golf course did you start on (the one that got you hooked and source of inspiration)? #GolfChat @AlCervik

Q3: It will be 9 months until another men’s major is played (LPGA Evian this week) with the Ryder and Solheim Cup this year in Sept so maybe might not seem longer. For the majors, do you think the calendar is right, or does it need to be tweaked so the gap is not so huge? #GolfChat#GolfChat

Q4: Collin Morikawa won the 149th Open Championship in his first ever start there, as he did in his win at the PGA Championship. Golf is too deep to anoint a “next Tiger” level player, so where would rank Morikawa in the games younger players? #GolfChat

Q5: Morikawa ? #GolfChat

This Week’s #GolfChat Questions

Q1: For the 2nd week in a row the PGA goes into extra holes (5) to decide the winner. The sudden death playoff, unlike the previous week’s, was over 4 holes and did you like this format better than the same hole again and again? #GolfChat

Q2: Viktor Hovland is trying to quietly play golf in his native Norway ahead of the British Open, but 300 people showed up to watch their new national hero play.  What makes you a fan of individual pro golfers? #GolfChat

Q3: Because of player such as Will Zalatoris and now Matilda Castren the conversation about “status” comes up. Do we care about what it takes to gain status or do we just want to see the best golfers the game has? Is “status” a way to protect the players that do have it? #GolfChat

Q4: In light of the new NCAA rules about athletes being paid for name, image, and likeness, will the USGA and R&A grant college golfers the right to sign deals and not lose their amature status?  Or will the USGA not grant a temp order and wait until 1/1/22 as expected?  Presser is expected today. #GolfChat

Q5: What is the #2 thing you look for in a regular golf partner (playing fast is #1 we know)? How often they’re available? How close in skill they are in comparison to you? My biggest is that they don’t get so down on a shot they don’t bring down the mood of the rest of the group. #GolfChat
